The Audi Group continued its successful course of growth in 2014. Despite the challenging market environment, the Company increased deliveries of its core brand Audi by 10.5 percent to the new record of 1,741,129 (2013: 1,575,480) cars. Overall, the Ingolstadt-based maker of premium cars established new sales records in over 50 individual markets. At € 5,150 (5,030) million, operating profit for the Audi Group was up on the prior-year level, despite high upfront expenditures for forward-looking technologies and new products as well as for the expansion of the international production network. Continuous improvements to processes and cost structures along the entire value chain once again favorably impacted profit performance. The operating return on sales for 2014 reached 9.6 (2013: 10.1) percent and was therefore at the upper end of the strategic target corridor of 8 to 10 percent.
